The Volvo XC60 Concept, part of the Small Premium Utility segment, combines elements of a coup� with those of an SUV. It features a six-cylinder bio ethanol engine, designed to cut emissions of fossil carbon dioxide by up to 80 percent. The XC60 Concept maintains Volvo's focus on safety with its new "City Safe" active collision avoidance system, designed to minimize or avoid damage from low-speed rear-impact collisions. Additional features include a more "pumped-up" design, enlarged iron mark in the grille and a new tailgate design. Furthermore, a pony-tail slot in the head restraints and backrests, first introduced a couple of years ago in the Volvo YCC (Your Concept Car), has been extended in the XC60 Concept all the way down the back to provide enhanced ventilation and improved rearward vision. The production-version of the Volvo XC60 is planned to reach showrooms at the beginning of 2009.

Volvo Cars unveils its new City Safety system, which is designed to help drivers avoid or minimize damage from low-speed rear-impact collisions. If the system senses that a collision is imminent, the car will brake automatically through hydraulic pump activation. Depending on the speed of the two vehicles, the system can either help reduce speed as much as possible before the impact or stop the collision entirely. The City Safety System will be on the market within two years.

Mazda unveiled its second chapter in their 'Nagare' (Japanese for 'flow') journey on Jan. 8 with the unveiling of the Ryuga concept car. Audi is introducing a new vehicle segment with its presentation of the Audi Cross Cabriolet quattro concept car at the Los Angeles Auto Show (14 -- 24 November 2007). The two-door, four-seater car measures 4.62 metres in length and combines the genes of a typical dynamic soft-top convertible from Audi with the all-round qualities of a fully fledged SUV. The muscular, powerful, but also elegant lines make no secret of this vehicle's potential. The 240 bhp three-litre TDI engine with ultra-low emission technology delivers sporty driving dynamics with exhaust emissions on the level of the EU 6 limits.
