The Volvo XC60 Concept, part of the Small Premium Utility segment, combines elements of a coup� with those of an SUV. It features a six-cylinder bio ethanol engine, designed to cut emissions of fossil carbon dioxide by up to 80 percent. The XC60 Concept maintains Volvo's focus on safety with its new "City Safe" active collision avoidance system, designed to minimize or avoid damage from low-speed rear-impact collisions. Additional features include a more "pumped-up" design, enlarged iron mark in the grille and a new tailgate design. Furthermore, a pony-tail slot in the head restraints and backrests, first introduced a couple of years ago in the Volvo YCC (Your Concept Car), has been extended in the XC60 Concept all the way down the back to provide enhanced ventilation and improved rearward vision. The production-version of the Volvo XC60 is planned to reach showrooms at the beginning of 2009.

The all new Renault Koleos will be launched in the first half of 2008, following it's transformation from concept to production since the Koleos was revealed at the 2006 Paris Motor Show. Renault presents its Grand Modus and New Modus, two new complementary models of the B-segment. The New Modus is designed for urban use, with compact exterior dimensions and a large cabin space. Grand Modus has an extended length of 4,034mm, a boot volume of 410dm3 and features three rear seats. Based on the Renault- and Nissan-shared B platform, the Grand Modus and New Modus will be produced in Valladolid, Spain, and will go on sale from early 2008.

Porsche recently unveiled early drafts of its Cayenne SUV hybrid prototype. The SUV, which will debut towards 2010, aims to decrease fuel consumption by an estimated 25 percent, especially during city driving. The Cayenne Hybrid will feature electric-powered steering, air conditioning and vacuum pumps for the brakes. Porsche officials also report they plan to introduce a hybrid version of its upcoming Panamera four-door Gran Turismo, scheduled to debut in 2009.
