The Volvo XC60 Concept, part of the Small Premium Utility segment, combines elements of a coup with those of an SUV. It features a six-cylinder bio ethanol engine, designed to cut emissions of fossil carbon dioxide by up to 80 percent. The XC60 Concept maintains Volvo's focus on safety with its new "City Safe" active collision avoidance system, designed to minimize or avoid damage from low-speed rear-impact collisions. Additional features include a more "pumped-up" design, enlarged iron mark in the grille and a new tailgate design. Furthermore, a pony-tail slot in the head restraints and backrests, first introduced a couple of years ago in the Volvo YCC (Your Concept Car), has been extended in the XC60 Concept all the way down the back to provide enhanced ventilation and improved rearward vision. The production-version of the Volvo XC60 is planned to reach showrooms at the beginning of 2009.

Volvo Cars unveils its new City Safety system, which is designed to help drivers avoid or minimize damage from low-speed rear-impact collisions. If the system senses that a collision is imminent, the car will brake automatically through hydraulic pump activation. Depending on the speed of the two vehicles, the system can either help reduce speed as much as possible before the impact or stop the collision entirely. The City Safety System will be on the market within two years.

This is Top Gear's take on the SSC Ultimate Aero (Guinness Fastest Production Car in the World @ 256.18 mph).SSC just wanted to prove the world that the Ultimate Aero doesn't need a professional driver to hit 250+ mph, and to show how easy it can be to drive at top speed. The 71 year old driver, Chuck Bigelow, is an auto enthusiast with no racing or testing background.** Of course Jeremy Clarkson will say otherwise **And because of the short straightaway, S-bends, and uneven pavement from the public road, SSC says that there was a lot more pedal to push, leaving 6-10 mph for future purposes.SSC will send an Ultimate Aero to Europe to test its true top speed on one of Germany's ultra-smooth test tracks, just like the Bugatti Veyron, Koenigsegg CCR, and McLaren F1.The Ultimate Aero also broke Road and Track's slalom record, previously held by the Ferrari Enzo.SSC is also developing a 220+ mph ultra-luxury sports sedan to target "Guinness Fastest 4-Door Sedan", set to debut in 2009.For more information about the SSC Ultimate Aero, visit:http://www.sscautos.comEngine: 6.3L V8 Twin-TurboDrivetrain: RWDHP: 1183 bhp (Guinness emissions-legal record)Torque: 1094 lbs-ft (production record)Weight: 2750 lbsDrag (cd): 0.357Fuel Economy: 18 City / 27 Highway / 22.5 averageOctane: 91 pumpTop speed: 256.18 mph (Guinness record)Capable top speed: 283 mph0-60: 2.78 seconds (unofficial record)1/4 mile: 9.90 secs @ 144 mph (unofficial record)60-0: 103 feetSkidpad: 1.05gWeight to Power ratio: 2.33 (production record)Power to Weight: 0.43 (production record)Slalom: 73.1 mph (R&T record)===============
